The law requires me to tell you this site has advertising on it. Now, I sort of figure you're smart enough to see that for yourself, but all the same, it's the law. When I list books or toys or other resources on the site, they are often affiliate links. Sometimes I get a few pennies when you buy them or something else on that site. If I review the item, I don't let that influence my review. (I have been known myself to buy something for the very reason that caused someone else to hate the item, so I don't worry about my opinion hurting anything, and anyway, that's not the main purpose of the site.) I haven't read all the books or used all the items. If I have, I say so and add a little note about how I feel about it. Otherwise, they are just there to make you aware they exist so you can check them out on your own. I do read the reviews and try to choose things I consider appropriate, but I know you're smart enough to do your own research, too. Some ads are fed by the ad company and I can't choose those items. In fact, different ads often appear for different people, so I don't always even know what you're seeing. Non-Google ads I generally get to choose, so I try to choose those to be something that would interest the readers of this site.
If something comes up you find really offensive, email me. Don't click the ad. Just hover over it and you'll see the URL to it appear somewhere in your browser, usually at the bottom.
These ad companies all have their own privacy policies, which you can evaluate on their sites. For myself, I don't collect personally identifiable information and I have no idea what I'd do with it anyway. I don't send out spam lists, so I don't think I need that information. My stats tell me what site referred visitors to me or what key words they put into a search engine to get here and what page they started on or ended on, but not who that person is.
The blog requires registration in order to reduce comment spam (caused by unprofessional people posting ads on blogs, sometimes badly disguised as real comments.) Some information is required in order to register. I will not share that information with anyone else. Your first post will not appear until I've approved it. Once you've had an approved post, your future posts will appear automatically. If you break the rules, you'll be warned for courtesy violations, or instantly banned for spam. Profanity is not allowed.
